This programme outlines the steps and procedures for Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) within various industries and environments.

The learning outcomes in this unit standard contribute to the exit level outcomes which provide access to workplace based learning programmes for occupationally focused qualifications in this field, and provide qualifying learners with access to a range of further learning at NQF level 2. 

Qualifying learners are able to describe safety, health and environmental issues and relate them to a specific work context. The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of manufacturing and engineering and technology.

COURSE OUTCOMES

Explain safety rules related to the specific workplace 
Recognise and interpret safety signs and colour codes
Identify and describe personal protective clothing and equipment for different situations
Identify potential hazards in the workplace and describe how to prevent or avoid them
Describe my role in maintaining a safe environment
Respond appropriately to injuries
