What is the purpose of the programme?

The purpose of this short course is to provide recognition to anyone wishing to facilitate learning interventions in the workplace using different techniques and methods including outcomes-based education and adult-based education learning principles. This type of course is sometimes called a Train-the-Trainer Course.

What are the learning outcomes?

Management of a motor retail business is dependent on effective communication and this programme provides learners with knowledge and skills to effectively implement a communication strategy for the motor retail business, manage communication processes, policies and procedures as well as manage information and information systems.

  • Communicate with clients
  • Evaluate learning and facilitation

How is the programme aligned?

This programme is a SAQA registered skills programme aligned to Unit Standards.

The alignment is as follows

Unit Standards:

  • US 120388: Supervise a project team of a small project to deliver project objectives (14 Credits)

Who is the target audience?

This course is suitable for anyone in a position to train others for example workplace facilitators or trainers, coaches, lecturers, or presenters. It is assumed that learners attending this course are already competent in the learning area in which they will provide training.

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must be able to demonstrate competence in the learning area in which they will provide training.

How is the programme structured?

The unit standards of the qualification have been collated into the following x modules:

  1. Introduction to Project Management
  2. Project Admin Support
  3. Project Budgeting and Risk Management
  4. Project Implementation
  5. Project Planning
  6. Supervise a Project Team
  7. Business Communication First Language
  8. Business Communication Second Language

How will the course be delivered and assessed?

Facilitation strategy

We offer our clients various facilitation methods based on specific needs. This can include in-person, on-line, virtual facilitation methods or a combination of any of these. Various learning techniques, such as simulations, roleplays, and presentations are used. Facilitators give feedback on participation, strengths, and areas for improvement. Practical application is crucial, requiring learners to apply knowledge in their daily work under supervision.

Assessment strategy

  • Formative assessment is conducted throughout the programme during the facilitated sessions. Assessment activities are included in the Formative Assessment Workbook and will be checked by the facilitator. Learners are expected to complete all the activities in their workbooks.
  • Summative assessment is conducted at the end of the foundational training phase. Learners are expected to complete summative assessment activities in the workplace and complete a logbook.

What are the workplace requirements?

Outcomes-based qualifications require application of skills in the workplace. Learners must be exposed to all outcomes related to the Unit Standard; this would include all activities related to planning, preparing, conducting and evaluating facilitation.

For this course, therefore the following human and physical resources are required:

  • Training venue, equipment and resources e.g. training materials, flipchart, projector, PowerPoint slides
  • Learners to attend the session

What workplace activities will need to be completed?

Some of the practical workplace activities for this course include the following:

  • Planning and preparing to facilitate a learning intervention of more than 45 minutes in the workplace
  • Conducting a target audience analysis
  • Facilitating a group of learners
  • Managing group dynamics and monitoring learner progress
  • Evaluating the facilitation and learning achieved
  • Compiling a facilitator post-training report
